Another Source’s client, Crisis Connections, is recruiting a Senior Director of Finance to join their team in Seattle, WA. This is a hybrid role with the opportunity to work remotely 2-3 days per week. For the days you will be working on-site, there is free parking offered at the location in Downtown Seattle!
Crisis Connections has been responding to calls for help and serving as a community safety net since 1964. We offer an array of support services that are free and easily accessible addressing “all things crisis”. Our core programs include: the 24-Hour Crisis Line, King County 2-1-1, Teen Link, WA Warm Line, WA Recovery Help Line, and support after suicide services. With over 350 trained volunteers and 225 staff, CC provides support, resources and certified training for King County and other communities statewide. And in July of 2020, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted rules to establish 9-8-8 as the new, nationwide, 3-digit phone number for Americans in crisis to connect with suicide prevention and mental health crisis counselors. The Crisis Connections 9-8-8 call center supports and serves the state’s most densely populated and highest needs of the state.

About the Role:
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Sr. Director of Finance is responsible for the oversight and operations of all finance, accounting and reporting activities including budgets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review and financial components of contracts and grants.
In addition to the day-to- day management of finance operations, this position works closely with the CEO on financial strategic development for the organization. This position will ensure that Crisis Connections has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct successful audits. They will analyze and interpret financial data in relationship to actual operations for the objective of developing and preparing financial plans, budgets and forecasts strategically and tactically.
Position oversees budgeting and financial projects, dash boarding of critical metrics and work with the Crisis Connections leadership team to ensure reports are accurate and timely. Position supervises a staff accountant, payroll specialist, and contractor(s) and supports the Board of Directors Finance & Audit Committee.
Responsibilities of the Role:
Financial Management
- Manage the preparation and development of Crisis Connections’ annual operating budgets, forecasts, revised targets, and ongoing reports and analysis. Ensure timely and relevant production of documents, reports, and budgets. Support and assist Sr. Directors and department heads through budget making and evaluation. Review budgets and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
- Provide recommendations to CEO and senior leadership team regarding best business practices, financial ratios/analysis and other changes based on financial evaluations and industry standards.
- Present the annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval in collaboration with the CEO and Board Treasurer.
- Provide financial analysis and related research of monthly grant reports, looking for trends and areas of concern, to enable accurate program and operations management.
- Lead Crisis Connections’ strategic plan initiatives relating to Finance and Compliance in collaboration with the CEO.
- Oversee and review monthly close process including reconciliations, journal entries, grant reports, taxes, and check runs.

Compliance and Risk Management
- Oversee compliance with federal, state, county, city and international bilateral and multilateral institutional grants, keeping current on regulatory requirements and monitoring compliance.
- Manage and oversee financial aspects of grant and foundation proposals, reporting & compliance functions including review of sub-recipients to ensure compliance with terms of sub-agreements and applicable grantor rules and regulations.
- Develop and manage systems and processes related to grants to ensure compliance and requirements for the government and NGOs. Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
- Advise CEO and senior leadership regarding changes, trends or developments that might influence decision-making or pose additional risk to the organization.

Leadership & Supervisor Responsibility
- Supervise, develop, and manage Crisis Connections finance staff. Review work and ensure the accuracy of all transactions and reconciliations done by accounting staff, compliance with GAAP, funder requirements, and all applicable Federal and State regulations and tax reporting
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels.
- Professionally represent organization to outside agencies, contractors, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, strong knowledge of GAAP, and minimum seven years’ progressive experience in accounting is required, or any equivalent combination of experience and training
- Ability to operate Microsoft Office products, including Excel, as well as accounting and payroll software.

- Nonprofit or government funding experience
