Alliance Director

Location: Office-base in one of the following Anthem offices: New York

The Role

The Alliance Director is responsible for overseeing the execution and success of the City of New York Alliance Strategy as set forth by the Alliance Joint Leadership Team. Works to drive alignment across multiple matrix organizations to ensure flawless execution, success & timely effective issue resolution. The candidate is responsible for maintaining an active and visible leadership role facilitating a high degree of collaboration across the alliance partners. Responsible for regularly monitoring & reporting business and operational results; actively addressing opportunities for improvement and proactively remediating issues and anticipated risks. Partners with key leaders to help drive profitable membership growth.

Primary duties to include, but are not limited to:

• Effectively serving as a liaison between Anthem and its alliance partner (and other delegated entities) for the City of New York group Medicare Advantage plan.
• Effectively represent, and advocate for, the alliance partner and City of New York objectives within and across all Anthem functional areas
• Directly responsible for leading the work toward a successful launch of the alliance.
• Ensure adherence to and achievement of the specific terms of the alliance legal agreements
• Assist with organizing and facilitating the alliance Joint Operating Committee
• Ongoing day-to-day responsibility for partnering with effectively internally and with the alliance partner to ensure the alliance achieves its goals as laid out by the joint leadership; including any specific goals for operational performance, growth, quality, and profitability.
• Supports where appropriate the unique network/provider engagement strategies in place for City of New York (e.g.: the new “pod” model)
• Effectively navigate and, at times coordinate, matrixed, shared service functions to drive health plan performance.
• In addition to resolving specific operational and business issues, assume a key role in driving ‘root cause’ analysis to identify and eliminate operational/IT/process defects that could cause recurring abrasion for the City, the members and/or providers
• Drives success through improvements/changes to current approaches/processes to drive results.
• Develop and deliver clear and concise executive updates on alliance performance, growth opportunities and risk/issue mitigation
• Assist in the creation and execution of a sales and marketing plan to support joint venture objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Requires a BA/BS degree in a related field;
• 8+ years of leadership/management experience in health care management, marketing products, and managing significant business results, Including 5 years in a managed care environment and/or 3 years Medicare advantage experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
• Health Operations experience is required.
• Excellent quantitative, marketing, financial, and strategic and operational planning skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MBA preferred
• Previous P&L and/or significant cross-functional project management experience in health care setting preferred
• Knowledge of and experience with operational functions and technical infrastructure that support both Anthem’s commercial business (CSBD) and Medicare business (GBD)
• Executive presence; strong communications skills & demonstrated problem solving ability
