Software Engineer
AMAC is seeking a full stack Software Engineer to work collaboratively to build, maintain and scale products and features with our staff and members. As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of a cross-functional team that includes other engineers as well people working in disciplines like product management, project management, and design.

This means as an engineer you must be able to pick the right tool for the job, while also being pragmatic and flexible as needed.
AMAC primarily uses a LAMP stack to power its enterprise but also leverages latest technologies like Node.js, Express and React for certain projects. Our main application is powered by WordPress and the surrounding endpoints leverage the Laravel framework to provide needed functionality. AMAC primary infrastructure leverages that AWS cloud to provide high availability to our membership
In this role, you will:
· Collaboratively tackle difficult and ambiguous problems as part of a cross-functional team.
· Write, test, debug, and deploy code across a variety of languages and frameworks including JavaScript and PHP (Node.js, WordPress, and Laravel, depending on the project).
· Work across the different phases of the software development lifecycle including estimating level-of-effort, identifying the best approach, building, performing QA testing, deploying, documenting, debugging, supporting features, and shipping security improvements.
· Participate and contribute to stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives at the agile team level and up.
· Perform code reviews with helpful and meaningful feedback for your teammates.
· Research, document, note trade-offs and recommend potential solutions around future product features.
· Work collaboratively across the engineering department to ensure standard methodologies and processes are followed.
· Provide relevant feedback to managers and supervisors when needed
To succeed in this role, you must:
· At least 4 years programming experience writing PHP and JavaScript
· At least 4 years working with WordPress developing custom themes and plugins
· Experience with GIT, Docker, and Amazon Web Services
· Knowledge of software principles, application architecture, data structures, coding conventions, and security practices.
· Knowledge of web applications infrastructure including firewalls, load balancers and scaling methods
· Ability to use your technical skills to achieve business goals.
· Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
· Empathy for application users and desire to improve their experiences.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
