The BI Analyst position works directly with business stakeholders to define scope, determine business requirements and provide analytical support for the BI team to carry out projects designed to improve company revenue and/or reduce costs. This position provides business and data analysis with minimum supervision under the direction of the BI leadership and is expected to work with several business functions and various organizational levels.
Gathering, analyzing and defining business and functional requirements and workflows. Creating BRD, FRD, and Gap Analysis documents.
Rapidly learn and understand business processes, data systems and sources and be the subject matter expert for multiple subject areas.
Provide quantitative/qualitative data analysis and trends and communicate results in a clear manner to non-technical business partners.
Perform tests to validate data and reports using SQL and reporting tools.
Lead complex projects, create plans, manage tasks and facilitate project meetings.
Document existing and newly created processes and respond to ad-hoc report requests across multiple business areas.
Create reports and dashboards in Tableau using best practices in performance and visualization, leveraging subject matter expertise in data domains and understanding of business needs.
Help end users create, maintain and trouble shoot Tableau reports and queries as needed. Provide mentorship in data and report development.
Help foster the growth and usage of Tableau in the enterprise by assisting in establishing and communicating best practices and policies.
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field (information systems, business administration, computer science.)
6 to 8 years of experience in a traditional data or analytics corporate environment.
Strong understanding of Data Warehouse, BI, and Business Analysis.
Strong proficiency in SQL and reporting tools (Tableau, Business Objects.)
Understanding of Scrum/Agile methodology.
Able to rapidly learn new processes/data subject areas.
Strong communication, presentation and relationship management skills.
Insurance experience highly desirable.
Experience in running a Tableau environment a huge plus.
