Position Summary:
The Payroll Manager is **responsible for overseeing the overall activities of the payroll function, developing policies and procedures for payroll processes and timekeeping, and ensuring the generation of company payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status. This person will also need to ensure compliance with all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions and recommend changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function.

Payroll Administration

Implements, monitors, and evaluates the company’s payroll systems and processes, including:

• Bi-weekly, other periodic and special payroll processing,
• Journal entry, account reconciliation and other elements of general ledger support,
• Report preparation, including earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, etc.
• Payroll liability calculations,
• Work with Accounting for payroll account balancing and discrepancy resolution.

• Provides problem solving, project management, and overall payroll planning and consultation for designated groups within the company.
• Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close reporting.
• Partners with system users and IT professionals for needs assessment, process improvements, recommended solutions, and implementation of applications.
• Maintains and communicates design standards for use in payroll, related sites and tools, including visual interface specifications, standards, and practices.
• Functions as an internal consultant to Human Resources service owners to deliver process improvement tools and methodologies.
• Manages the specification, development, and implementation of new or redesigned systems, reports, policies, and procedures.
• Develops and presents payroll plans and proposals to Payroll and Human Resources management.
• Engages with software and hardware vendors to ensure proper development, implementation, and user training.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Childhelp’s cultural values and performance principles, company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:

• Manages a payroll team or teams.
• Planning, assigning and directing work for direct reports
• Actively participating in the interviewing and hiring processes and ensuring successful functional onboarding of new employees
• Setting reasonable stretch performance goals, providing constructive, balanced, regular performance feedback, and conducting annual performance appraisals
• Recognizing and rewarding performance excellence
• Approving timesheets and processing time off requests as part of preparing for payroll for direct reports
• Communicating and enforcing company policies and programs
• Applying corrective action, addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely fashion, involving and collaborating with leadership and Human Resources as appropriate.

Requirements**
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Understanding
*

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience leading a payroll function and team.

• Thorough knowledge of state and federal payroll and tax regulations.
• Ability to manage confidential information in a professional manner and in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

• Experience with Workday payroll and ADP payment services preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $89,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
