Paramedic Summary: Administers life support care to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital setting as authorized and directed by Physician, in accordance with established protocols.

Paramedic Education and/or Experience:
Completion of State of Kansas approved Paramedic course.
Paramedic Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current License as a Kansas Paramedic
Current Kansas Drivers License
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
Current BTLS

Base pay increases based on experience. (Pay Scale is over a 30 year range of experience)

As an employee you are eligible to receive Medical and Dental insurance at the current employee cost share. You are also eligible to enroll in a Vision employee cost share and FSA Plan. Annual open enrollment for these plans occurs in October, effective November 1st. As a new hire, the eligibility date for these plans is the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Supplemental Benefits
As an employee you are eligible to enroll in any of the voluntary supplemental insurance plans available to the employees, current offerings include: a Short-term Disability plan, Critical Illness, ID & Legal Shield, an Accident plan, and Cancer insurance; additional life insurance is also available. Annual open enrollment for these plans also occurs in October, effective November 1st. Supplemental plans are not available for election at new hire.
Paid Benefits
As an employee you receive the CHS paid Long-term Disability Insurance. As well as the CHS paid Life Insurance, which is based on your salary, after 90 days of employment.
Retirement
CHS has a 414(h) in lieu of Social Security retirement plan. Meaning, CHS is not a part of Social Security benefits, kind of like a school or city. Instead, CHS puts an amount equal to 7% of your salary into the plan and the employee is required to contribute 4%. This equals an investment of 11% of your salary and you are 100% vested in these funds from day one. You direct how and which funds, within the plan, are invested. You can also choose to contribute more than the employee base of 4% into a 457, there is not an employee match option with this additional plan.
Discretionary Leave
As a new hire, the current accrual of DL (PTO) is at a rate of .09615 per straight time hours worked. The maximum potential DL hours earned, based on 2,080 annual worked hours, is 200. This will increase after the 3rd completed year of service. DL is available to utilize for vacation, holidays and sick leave the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
