VP Head of Mortgage Operations
Description
This role will manage the oversight of all loan life cycle activities, including loan setup, processing, underwriting, closing and post-closing areas of client’s business across all locations and channels. Function as a key contributor in workflow management, new initiatives, process development and culture building. Manage vendors and servicing partners. Although this is a seasoned operation, the existing platform is out dated and needs enhancements, to improve their systems. This is a hands-on role requiring the selected candidate roll up their sleeves and be heavily involved with all facets of the role. Policy & Procedure including Process Maps will need to be analyzed and updated. Processes will need to be examined, improved, and documented. Capacity models will need to be created. Continuous improvement model will need to be established and executed, must work well with the production channels in a collaborative/partner approach. Will have the following Direct and In-Direct Reports; Processing Manager (Direct), Underwriting Manager (Direct), and Post-Closing Manager (In-Direct) and will have the following resources to leverage; Compliance Attorney and an Encompass Administrator.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain staffing levels to ensure proper coverage as well as support the business and hours of operation, providing direct coverage for key position in case of absence.
• Act as the main point of escalation for all issues within the functions.
• Responsible for communicating monthly results to Management on departmental performance objectives.
• Oversee workload for departments.
• Validate & analyze reports that identify the responsible parties on findings reported by QC, QA, Loan Delivery, Post Closing, Credit Risk and/or Compliance. Communicates all trends for the responsible parties and any necessary follow-ups to the President.
• Support, recommend and implement technology initiatives.
• Responsible for working with Management to get approval from the Credit Risk Committee on changes related to product & underwriting guidelines.
• Update the Mortgage Origination Manuals related to all departments.
• Partner with origination management and staff to improve and maintain application quality, identify training needs and areas of improvement.
• Ensure pipeline meetings are managed and conducted on a regular basis.
• Oversees and implements process improvements.
• Coordinate implementation and enhancement of operational systems and procedures.
• Lead expansion and development of the team.
• Manage group performance through a strategic vision to meet or exceed established goals.
• Ability to scale processes to allow the team to efficiently operate and grow.
• Leads continual process improvement initiatives to reduce unnecessary redundancies and ensures any process creates quality (e. g. accuracy and compliance), cost, service (e. g. client experience) or delivery (e. g. cycle time and data accuracy) advantages.
• Maintains strong working relationships with key business partners to help grow and improve our operations.
• Designs and implements business strategies – budgeting, planning, and evaluation of the operation.

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline preferable).
• Seeking 10 to 15 years related work experience in mortgage lending with at least five (5) years of underwriting experience.
• Should have one or more government underwriting designations.

• FHA Direct Endorsed Authority (DE)
• VA (LAPP/SAR)

• Must have worked closely and collaboratively with production channels:

• Retail
• TPO
• Consumer Direct (CD)

• Must have experience with external audits/exams e.g., FHA, Fannie Mae MORA, CFPB
• Must know and will be responsible for End-to-End process from Setup thru Funding and including Pre-Funding QA and Post-Closing QC
• Must know how to create and manage the following:

• Capacity Modeling
• Continuous Improvement Process
• Policy & Procedure updating and maintenance
• Process mapping
• Performance metrics

• Systems – Experience/Competence/Proficiency

• Encompass (LOS)
• BeSmartee (POS)
• Power BI (Reporting)

• Excel

• Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power BI, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Experience resolving audit findings from state and federal regulators, investors, agencies.

This position will start out remote but will eventually require the selected candidate relocate and work onsite out of the client’s HQ located in North Miami Florida.
