The Corporate Transportation Manager oversees all scheduling/ routing functions for the U.S. Windows Division of Cornerstone Building Brands. The scope includes the inbound and outbound freight for U.S. Windows manufacturing/ assembly locations across the U.S. This position is responsible for all routing relationships and provides leadership/ support to the plants regarding all routing/ transportation functions. The Manager has primary responsibility for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our transportation network and monitoring our network for consistently meeting company and customer requirements and is always prepared to support our growth initiatives. This role involves working on-site with Transportation teams, requiring regular travel throughout North America. Candidates should be of graduate caliber with advanced P.C. skills, a logical approach to problem-solving, and experience in the distribution industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consistently lead first with safety to demonstrate embraced as a value and team complete safety objectives, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
• Develop and execute a strategic plan for the U.S. Windows/ Central Routing transportation group.
• Identify best practices for routing and ensure consistent absorption across all locations
• Introduces and manages KPIs that measure cost efficiencies and operational performance versus targets, including performance trends.
• Holds weekly operational calls with our 3PL partners within each manufacturing facility to ensure alignment & strategy gets executed.
• Identify enhancements and optimization synergies that enable operational efficiencies, and achieve cost savings targets established by Director
• Provide direct oversight of the Central Routing Team and manage the relationship with our third-party transportation providers and private fleet operations.
• As needed, provide leadership across inbound and outbound shipments, imports/exports, expedited freight, and unique transportation requirements.
• This position collaborates with our 3PL provider and internal stakeholders on continuous improvement initiatives that result in high-performing processes and operational excellence
• Determine the best tool requirements to enable the lowest cost and optimal performance within the transportation function across all locations
• Provides problem-solving expertise and guidance to the manufacturing facilities on any transportation-related issues.
• Ensures proper procedures are established and provides training as required.
• Develops good relationships with plant management staff, peers, and senior management to facilitate a collaborative, high-performing environment
• Works with the plant teams to improve safety as it relates to the transportation and warehousing function
• Assists with investigations to determine root cause and corrective action
• Performs other duties as required by the Director of Transportation/ Logistics
• Develops strategic plans to improve productivity, cost, and efficiency within the Supply Chain Operations team by setting activities, objectives, and goals with the ultimate alignment of the organization around meeting customer and company objectives.
• Leadership in developing objectives and execution plans that optimize the U.S. Windows Group (USWG) central routing & the USWG fleet distribution teams.
• Establish and maintain effective SOPs that grow and adapt to changes in the network and capabilities across the organization as systems are implemented and aligned.
• Drive supply chain cost and capability initiatives across both inbound and outbound shipping.
• Develop and implement operational supply chain strategies and technology to include logistics and distribution systems, tools, and process improvements.
• Accountable for adherence to supply chain and cost reduction targets, monitoring progress, increasing supply chain adaptability, reviewing schedules, and resolving cross-departmental problems.
• Maintain effective communication with demand planning, supply chain planning, customer service, purchasing, quality, and related manufacturing functions to provide a leadership role in maximizing customer service.
• Manages, motivates, and influences direct & indirect staff. Responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• B.S. degree in Supply Chain, Business, Management, or related discipline
• 7+ years of transportation management experience in a manufacturing environment, with solid systems knowledge regarding transportation network routing/ optimization
• Operational experience with managing 3PLs for multiple sites is preferred.
• National scope preferred.
• Capable of leading problem-solving activities, building strong relationships, and communicating effectively (verbal/written)
• Proven record of achieving operational targets
• Appian Routing Software, PC Miler, Other Routing Tools Knowledge
• Working knowledge and experience in various ERP platforms
• In-depth experience in continuous improvement and operational excellence, process improvement, process standardization
• Ability to analyze transportation and financial data to identify improvement opportunities
• Excellent P.C. Skills and M.S. Office skills (specifically Excel).
• Experience with fleet requirements – I.E., HOS
