CraniUS is seeking a talented and versatile software engineer to assist in building out the technology ecosystem surrounding a novel medical device that will pioneer the treatment for patients with brain cancer. Work is fast paced, but relaxed, and will involve strategic thinking and supporting important business decision-making.

Job Description:

The Software Engineer shall support the responsibility of developing the software ecosystem of the CraniUS medical device. The engineer will work under the supervision of, and in collaboration with, the Director of Software and Security and will have substantial freedom in designing and developing various levels of the tech stack. Work will include significant development of an iOS patient-facing application, a HIPAA-compliant web server, and additional web development for accompanying visualization of reporting tools. Additional work may be needed for firmware development of the medical device.

Technical Tasks

• Design and implement backend server functionality to support the iOS application, in compliance with HIPAA. Tech stack will likely be Django with SQL DBMS
• Design and implement a patient-facing iOS Swift application that supports CraniUS medical device functionality, following requirements set out by the leadership team and

CraniUS external UXDs

• Develop a frontend data visualization using Typescript / React
• Perform and receive code reviews
• Maintain high-quality code as demonstrated by test coverage and design review

Non-Technical Tasks

• Present weekly updates and progress to leadership team
• Support important business and design decision-making

Job Requirements (order of most to least relevant to day-to-day tasks):

• Top notch communication skills are essential
• Comfort operating independently and reporting progress and design decisions
• Quickly learn new technologies and willingness to learn from examples / documentation
• Prior font-end experience (ex. TS / JS, React, Swift, Android-Java)
• Development experience programming in C (using GCC / Makefiles)
• Knowledge of DBMS
• Preferred experience with HTTP and SSL, and experience with AWS

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
