Dorchester Center for the Arts (DCA) is dedicated to enriching Maryland’s Eastern Shore community through high quality, engaging programming in the visual, literary, and performing arts. As the designated County Arts Council for Dorchester County, the Center for the Arts is committed to increasing access to the arts for all members of the community by supporting extensive outreach and educational opportunities in the arts.

DCA is seeking a part-time Visual Arts Coordinator to deepen the organization’s commitment to engaging diverse audiences with its programming and activities, both in-person and online. Applicants should have a minimum of an associate degree, and relevant experience in the arts, graphic arts, or related field. Gallery experience preferred. Must have graphic design abilities and a collaborative and creative spirit.

The Visual Arts Coordinator will work in concert with the Executive Director and the Gallery Program Committee to curate, plan, and produce an annual/multi-year program of art exhibitions for DCA’s gallery spaces and select community venues. This position is also responsible for creating graphic materials including exhibit interpretation materials, promotional posters and postcards, brochures, advertising, e-newsletters and annual reports.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

• Sourcing artists and developing exhibit themes in partnership with the volunteer Gallery Program Committee
• Ensuring the hanging and/or installation of each exhibit, creation of labels for each piece of work as well as an artist’s bio and/or artist statement for display, and poster recognizing any exhibit business sponsor
• Securing live music for monthly Second Saturday Receptions
• Creating graphic and digital design for a variety of projects
• Serving as a community liaison to network with area artists

The Visual Arts Coordinator works a maximum of 80 hours per month. Schedule has flexibility, but some weekend work required for exhibit receptions.
