Job Title: EMT

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Borough Manager or designee, the EMT renders emergency first aid and medical treatment; assists in training programs and public education activities; and performs related work as required. Seeking highly motivated Emergency Technicians to staff our Eddystone Unit

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Compliance with all Boro of Eddystone policies.
• Maintain a clean appearance, demonstrating courteous, professional and ethical behavior, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with other members of the healthcare community.
• Continually improve and upgrade the skills and knowledge of the emergency medical profession.
• Render competent patient care in both pre-hospital and inter-facility setting.
• Compliance with all applicable protocols for emergency treatment and transportation as per company policy and PA Dept. of Health protocols.
• Safely operate and maintain emergency vehicles and comply with all laws pertaining to the operation of an emergency vehicle.
• Safely operate and maintain all equipment and tools relevant to an EMT
• Communicate patient information to other members of the healthcare profession.
• Communicate information through the proper “chain of command”, to management and other employees of Eddystone Boro.
• Compliance with local, state and regional emergency medical service operations, regulations, and laws.
• Accurately and completely document information required by EFC and the Department of Health via any EMS required electronic charting as well as any associated paperwork
• Accurately and completely document the required information PCR.
• Demonstrate, by attendance and documentation, compliance with Boro of Eddystone and/or the Department of Health requirements for continuing education and licensure.
• Demonstrate physical ability to perform all tasks required in the performance of duties as an EMT.
• Clean and maintain the cleanliness of EFC and Boro of Eddystone property, including, but not limited to, vehicles, equipment, buildings and surrounding areas.
• Accurately and completely document the required information on Daily Vehicle Inspection form and the Daily Equipment Inventory form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Walk, bend, squat, twist, reach, push, pull, and carry
• Frequently lift and/or move more than 125 pounds including lifting, moving and carrying patients up and down stairs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a EMT program and acceptance for licensure in the state of Pa
• One year related experience preferred but not required
• Maintain current Valid Driver’s License
• Maintain, on file, current and valid EMT Basic/Intermediate Certification
• Maintain, on file, current and valid CPR (Health Care Provider minimum) certification.
• Maintain, on file, current certification:
• EVOC
• EMSVO
• CPAP for BLS
• Narcan for BLS
• ASA for BLS
• ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800
• Current BLS Protocol Updates as regulated by PA DOH.
• PA Child Abuse Background Check
• PSP Criminal Background Check
• FBI Clearance
