Job Description

Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

This position requires an employee to be onsite monthly.

CCA’s Global Aftersales Engineering organization has responsibility for the service result readiness of every GM vehicle globally. These include: service part release, service information, labor time guide, service part catalogue, diagnostic software, service programming, pre-delivery inspection forms, customer service information and special tools. Responsible for efficiently and effectively facilitating the execution of Aftersales Engineering work within their specific function.

Develop, validate and implement common serviceability specifications, service part release/information and simultaneous production across multiple vehicle platforms. Represent Aftersales Engineering within the Global Vehicle Development Process and with Product Engineering at the assigned Body Subsystem Core PDT(s). Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Commodity specific focus
• Direct work with DRE
• Participate in Product Development Teams (PDTs), Peer reviews and Service Performance Integration Teams (SPIT)
• Support Compartment Integration Teams (CIT) as needed
• Communicate and advocate service technical requirements for serviceability including Sub-System Technical Specification (SSTS) and Component Technical Specifications (CTS)
• Develop/maintain Subsystem Service Plans (SSSP) for service part release and organizational change
• Act as the single point of contact for Active Safety controls systems with program teams, Global Automated Driving Center (GADC) leadership and Hardware Release leadership.
• Develop and validate special service tools for vehicle repairs
• Assist with meeting financial commitments through attaining budget target and achievement of warranty cost avoidance targets, developing, documenting and resolving service issues utilizing business case analysis
• Identify, develop and release responsible service parts for assigned global and local vehicle programs
• Provide leadership and direction to battery cell Technical Review Boards (TRBs), Change Control Board (CCB), and advanced technical work groups
• Respond to Part Issues & Inquiries (Part AID) within the targeted time objectives by analyzing and resolving engineering deviations, suggestions, and internal/external customer inquiries relative to service parts
• Support advance purchasing process for all Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA) requirements (sourcing activities; Partner Meetings, Statement of Requirements (SOR) development, Technical Reviews, and supplier selection)
• Maintain communications, establish relationships, and represent Aftersales Engineering with all CCA downstream functions and internal customers
• Connect with internal and external customer organizations
• Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products
• Perform special assignments as requested

Additional Job Description

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or equivalent experience
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively with others
• Highly analytical where problems are unusual and difficult
• Proven knowledge of vehicle systems, dealership or field experience
• Understanding of engineering theory/principles and operation of mechanical mechanisms
• Validated technical and professional skills in job-related areas
• Knowledge of engineering related computer software (GPDS, E2, APM, TcAE, Vis Mockup) and proficient with Microsoft Office software
• Knowledge of Engineering Change Management processes
• Automotive service parts experience at the wholesale or retail level
• Solid understanding of automotive service practices and procedures preferred
• Hands on experience in automotive diagnosis and repair preferred
