BILLING ACCOUNTANT

Reports to: Accounting Supervisor or Division Director

FLSA Code: Exempt with straight overtime

As a member of the Finance team, the Billing Accountant is responsible for preparing/submitting client invoices, maintaining new project accounts, and assisting the Accounting Manager with month-end close responsibilities.

As the Billing Accountant, you shall utilize the Company values in all phases of your work. You shall demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out assignments with limited oversight in a timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares and submits complex client invoices after Project Manager Approval.
• Oversees the tasks of sending new invoices to clients and ensures outstanding invoices are paid on time.
• Establishes and maintains new projects in the accounting system (Deltek Vantagepoint).
• Works with Project Managers and Division Directors to financially analyze and review client projects.
• Communicates routinely with Project Managers on a variety of job-related topics including contract agreements, insurance, and lien waiver.
• Makes recommendations on ways to improve processes.
• Manages collections and submittals of the timekeeping process for the company
• Other ad-hoc projects as needed related to process improvements and implementation of accounting system upgrades.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred or billing experience
• Proven experience as a Billing Specialist is preferable
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferable
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Attention to the details
• Works well with other team members
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
