JOB/POSITION TITLE:

Transportation Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the leadership of the Dispatch & Operations Supervisors, the Transportation Coordinator

is responsible for supporting and monitoring aspects of revenue service operations, with an

emphasis on safety, quality of service and on-time performance, ensuring resources are available

to meet service commitments and effective radio communications to support field operations.

Provides leadership and establishes performance standards as outlined in the Strategic Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Monitor service, investigate and analyze situations which impact or may impact bus service. Communicates information and/or recommendations to appropriate RTA personnel.
• Respond to and assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, equipment failures, schedule delays, service

problems, operator and customer conflicts, complaints and disputes.

• Provide customer assistance such as issuing system and scheduling information, transporting passengers,

handle unruly/ill passengers by requesting medical assistance, obtaining law enforcement assistance or personally and professionally handling situations.

• Support control of radio communications utilized to maintain services by directing operators, specialists and street

operations support staff.

• Support, monitor, and coordinate priorities and non-routine communications with minimal notice, to the changing

needs of RTA regarding coverage of operations such as emergency situations, bus replacement and repair, re-routing

of buses, delays in service, and detours.

• Coordinate with internal departments and other entities regarding incidents, accidents, emergencies, road conditions.

POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED SCHEDULE:

Full time position – schedule may vary. Required to be on-call during assigned after-hours periods to address any emergency situations, including accidents, adverse weather and road conditions and serious incidents.

TRAVEL:

As needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in a fast paced Dispatch environment.
• Computer Skills – Should have adequate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point).
• Demonstrated ability to do intermediate level word processing and spreadsheets.
• Must possess or have the ability to possess a valid Ohio commercial driver license (Class A or B, with air brake and passenger endorsements).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• An Associate’s Degree is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of locations, streets and highways in the Dayton, Montgomery County area preferred but not required.
• A combination of education and experience with bus transit may be used in fulfilling the educational requirements.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is a full time, non-exempt, pay grade 13 position with an initial hiring range of $46,476 (minimum) to $58,097 (midpoint). Interested internal candidates must submit their Career Opportunity Application to Sean Urke in Human Resources no later than 05/12/2022 by 5:00 p.m.
