Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations

Hillbrook School is seeking a dynamic and motivated advancement professional who can support the school’s annual giving program and alumni relations. The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations would have primary oversight of alumni relations and advancement events, and would provide organizational and strategic support for all annual fundraising activities. The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations would also serve as the primary liaison to the Hillbrook School Parent Council for Advancement events and programs. The Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations reports to the Director of Advancement.

Hillbrook School is a junior kindergarten-8th grade independent school located on 14 acres of oak woodland in Los Gatos, CA. Founded in 1935, Hillbrook School remains deeply connected to its historical roots as a school where children are known, learning is authentic and active, and success is measured one child at a time. Hillbrook is located in the heart of Silicon Valley: 35 minutes south of Stanford University, 30 minutes north of Santa Cruz, and 1 hour south of

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the school’s annual giving program (Annual Fund, Benefit, other fundraising events) in close collaboration with the Director of Advancement

• Assume primary oversight of the school’s Annual Benefit, planning and implementing logistics, soliciting and coordinating auction item donations, and providing counsel and support to parent volunteers
• Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive donor solicitation program, including coordinating and implementing donor cultivation and recognition events, such as the Head’s Circle Reception, the Friends Circle reception, and Grandparents/Special Friends Day

• Develop, support and manage the school’s alumni group
• Maintain database of annual grant makers (prospects and donors), including individuals, corporations, and foundations that can be used for all Hillbrook fundraising campaigns and activities
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Hillbrook School Parent Council for Advancement events and programs
• Reports to the Director of Advancement

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a development professional
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to articulate and explain complex issues to senior staff and trustees responsible for making informed and effective strategic decisions
• Strong passion for the role and the school, and an understanding of how the position supports the school’s ability to meet its mission and vision every day
• Natural networking instincts that make one adept at building and nurturing relationships with all types of constituent groups
• Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to think strategically and creatively
• Ability to work in a collegial, collaborative environment and to develop the necessary trust and credibility to work with the Director of Advancement, Head of School, Board of Trustees, colleagues, and parents

• A growth mindset, active sense of humor, warm personality, and excellent organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and utilizing fundraising database software
• Advanced degree preferred
