Position Summary:
The Historic Elgin Hotel is seeking a full-time Hotel Manager to oversee the day to day operations of the hotel and ensure an amazing and memorable guest experience. The Manager will be responsible to develop and lead a team to provide exceptional customer service while overseeing that goals and objectives set by the hotel owners are met.
The candidate must be outgoing, friendly, extremely organized and be customer service driven. The candidate must have the highest attention to detail orientation. Excellent communication skills and a strong computer proficiency are a must. He/She must meet the physical demands of the job and share the owner’s passion for excellence, working under the guidelines of the owners and the policies and procedures agreed upon to promote the property to the community and its guests.
The candidate must also be flexible and adaptable due to a changing schedule each day, yet organized, detailed and able to remain calm under pressure. Honesty and integrity are essential attributes of the candidate and set examples for all staff and contractors. Professional appearance and business casual dress is required at all times.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Plan, implement and manage overall operations for the property.
· Develop hotel forecasts and track financial performance.
· Plan and organize activities for the hotel to drive sales.
· Manage hotel expenses resulting in a lean and efficient organization.
· Track and manage hotel inventory.
· Plan and implement marketing campaigns.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with guests and vendors.
· Provide exemplary customer service to all guests and vendors.
· Lead the team by selecting, hiring, scheduling, training, developing, and evaluating the performance of employees.
· Identify and coordinate maintenance, repairs and special projects.
· Oversee events by taking reservations, marketing the event, and handling logistics.
· Oversee day to day activities such as answering the phone, selling rooms and packages, making reservations, checking guests in and out, making a game plan for staff to follow, completing assigned daily duties, serving breakfast and preparing guest packages.
· Respond as quickly as possible to all guest inquiries particularly those for overnight accommodations, encouraging guests to make reservations, and tailoring the reservation to the guest’s needs.
· Understand and work toward achieving all business objectives created with the owner
· Report financial status and performance against the business objectives on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
· Assume the role of Hotel spokesperson.
Physical/Mental Demands

Minimum Qualifications:
· College degree or equivalent experience
· 5+ years working in the hotel industry
· 2+ years serving as a manager in the hotel industry
· Strong leadership skills; capable of managing people and directing their work
· Friendly attitude; able to put people at ease
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Computer proficient, specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
· Able to learn new computer software with ease
· High energy and enthusiasm
· Excellent organizational skills
· Strong attention to detail
Classification: Salaried Exempt
Salary: Competitive base salary + Profit Sharing
Schedule: Thursday – Monday, 8:00A to 5:00P. This schedule can be adapted to take weekends off from time to time.
