Primary Responsibilities

• Be a champion of innovation to develop new products that will be commercially successful
• Leveraging technology to improve manufacturing processes
• Oversee Luxfer BEST New Product Development process
• Complete research with experimental design, metallography, and other lab based activities
• Compile reports and presentations to management regarding research and development program outlines and progress
• Work with a dynamic team

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree required preferably in Material Sciences, Metallurgy, Engineering, Aerospace or Technology.
• 1yr+ Experience in industrial project management
• Exposure to industrial metal processing, space/aerospace engineering or photo chemical machining desired
• Previous materials science, metals, metallurgy and/ or chemistry knowledge/experience a plus
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Superior organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Experience and proven ability to handle many projects and project types concurrently
• Strong analytical skills

The Research and Development Lead will manage activities to cultivate improved technologies necessary to create new products. We’re looking for a high energy individual who can contribute to the invention of advanced material solutions and thrive as leader of a like-minded multidisciplinary team.

Candidates for this role should be creative and have a passion for problem solving and inventing meaningful solutions. Candidates should have strong science, engineering and/or materials (metals) background, and experience with program management. This will enable them to establish, lead and launch a portfolio of new product development projects that will strategically advance LGAs product offerings, satisfy our customers needs and be commercially successful.

Luxfer Graphic Arts (LGA) is part of the Luxfer Group (www.luxfer.com) portfolio of companies. It is the industry leader in the production of advanced magnesium sheet and plate alloys, for use in specialty engineering applications such as auto-sport, aerospace, space, defense and the printing industry.

The company has two manufacturing locations: Madison IL, and Manchester UK. The Madison facility produces magnesium alloy slabs from its casting operation which are then processed into plates, coils and sheets on its rolling mills. Both locations have specialty surface finishing operations that are applied to the final product making it ready for sale. LGA is a global organization, servicing clients in 75 different countries around the globe from sales offices in North America, South America, Europe, Dubai, South East Asia, and India as well as an extensive network of distribution agents.
