Responsibilities:

• Strong knowledge of CPT procedure codes and diagnostic ICD-10-CM codes and/or MS-DRG classification codes and application of modifiers.
• Compares CPT procedure codes and diagnostic ICD-10-CM codes for clinician services and/or facility billing with APC and MS-DRG classification data entered with source documents or re-enters data in verification format to detect errors.
• Serve as contact throughout the organization; including providers, front desk and other clinical operational and administrative personnel for issues surrounding billing, coding and denial management.

Qualifications:

• 2+ year’s medical billing with increasing degree of responsibility
• Certified Professional Coder with an emphasis in Evaluation and Management coding preferred
• Medical terminology, insurance industry knowledge to include HMO and PPO requirements, and insurance protocols. Working knowledge of accounting principles.
• Knowledge of billing practices/collections, customer service including telephone etiquette, cash handling and organizational skills

• Must be dependable and on time with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
• Ability to plan and prioritize your own work and other people’s to meet deadlines
• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively calm patients and be able to deal with distressed and/or agitated patients and their families
