DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a courteous and professional initial encounter for incoming calls
Managing large amounts of inbound and outbound calls in a timely manner
Assist the patient in registering and scheduling an appointment
Determine patient’s insurance eligibility to schedule appointment (this can include contacting the patient’s insurance company)
Screen all phone calls appropriately by identifying customers’ needs, clarifying information, research every issue and providing solutions.
Route calls to the specific individuals and/or department. Take detail messages.
Check and sort mail
Tag incoming imaging CD/films; fax referrals/paperwork; scan documents into the patient’s chart
Print patient charts for next day appointments
Obtain MRI, CT Scan, EMG authorizations
Complete workflow dashboard and location buckets
Review and sign-off on New Patient registration
Monitor physicians’ schedules via Athena Health for changes and/or updates one day prior to patient’s appointment.
Assure that the schedules are balanced among the physicians and that all appointments are scheduled appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS: General knowledge of office procedures and computer systems.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to explain billing and fees. AAS required, Bachelors preferred.Knowledge of ICD10 and CPT codes preferred. Previous Orthopedic experience a plus.Ability to work in fast pace, high volume environment.Previous medical office experience a plus.Knowledge of Athenahealth practice management system a plus.
