At Pace, we provide the highest level of artistic experience and knowledge, and we embed study of the visual and performing arts in our curriculum at every level. For the 2022-2023 academic year, Pace is looking for a full-time Technical Director to join the Fine Arts department August 1, 2022.

Teaching responsibilities will include Upper School Stagecraft I & II and Tools and Equipment, as well as assisting with Upper School Stagecraft III & IV and Design Elements.

Production responsibilities include safety, planning, maintenance, education and the following duties: oversee set build, light hang, painting and technical rehearsals; assign student crew positions; supervise strike; set up Fine Arts Center events, concerts and student assemblies; coordinate scenic load in/out, lighting load in/out, costume load in/out and properties load in/out.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaches three Upper School courses and assists with three Upper School courses

• Prepares course objectives and outlines for courses of study in conjunction with other Upper School faculty, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school

• Communicates effectively with parents in a timely manner

• Builds and coordinates all production elements and attends production meetings

• Coordinates all building elements in the Fine Arts Center (FAC) for Lower School, Middle School and Upper School events

• Responsible for building one (or more) of the production elements for each Lower School, Middle School and Upper School production

• Produces production drawings, plans set build and light hang, purchases materials

• Keeps stage and shop clean, maintains safe work environment, maintains first aid supplies

• Maintains shop tools and theater equipment

• Trains and manages student crews and provides production education

• Responsible for any arts events outside of the Fine Arts Center as determined by the Director of Fine Arts

• Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops

• Attends training, professional development and education in antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion

• Effectively incorporates principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching and classroom culture

• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Two to five years of teaching experience preferred

• Works normal school-day hours plus nights and weekends as needed

• Belief in the critical importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in the life of a school so as to foster a sense of belonging

• Must be able to work on campus, for in-person learning
