SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER
In a Nutshell
R&M is seeking a team-oriented senior project engineer to support expansion of our Surface
Transportation Group. R&M’s Surface Transportation Group has participated in some of Alaska’s most significant and technically challenging transportation projects for clients such as the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the Municipality of Anchorage.
As a member of R&M’s Surface Transportation team, the senior project engineer will be responsible for oversight of design work on a project-by-project basis. The successful candidate will be expected to apply theories, principles and practices of highway engineering. Typical projects involve preparing studies, plans, specifications and estimates for the design of highways, streets and non-motorized facilities.
The successful candidate will manage the productivity of technical staff, which includes training employees, making work assignments, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Duties include supervising project engineers, staff engineers and interns, and coordinating project deliverables with our in-house survey, geotechnical, environmental, planning, hydrology and construction administration staff. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in business development, marketing, recruiting, and project, client and public meetings.
The successful applicant will be expected to represent R&M and actively participate in professional organizations and community activities.
The senior project engineer will report to the Surface Transportation Group Manager.
On Any Given Day
This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and 15 or more years of experience in civil design work, with emphasis in highway and street design. Other desirable qualifications include experience with traffic engineering, developing utility agreements and hydrology. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is desired, as well as basic skills in Microsoft Project, Word and Excel. All candidates should be collaborative, with good interpersonal abilities for working in a dynamic team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are also important. Alaskan P.E. required, or ability to obtain by reciprocity.

Pay: $120,000.00 – $140,000.00 per year
