The National Hormone Laboratory (NHL) at the Saint Paul VI Institute is looking for a qualified laboratory supervisor. The NHL specializes in the analysis of hormones and receives specimens from across the country.
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of laboratory operations, including: supervision of lab personnel and their respective duties, performing tests, and reporting test results.
1. The Laboratory Supervisor:
a. Must be accessible to lab personnel at all times when testing is performed. Provides clear thinking and problem solving skills to help resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established either by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor;
b. Is responsible for providing day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by lab personnel qualified under Section IV;
c. Must be onsite to provide direct supervision and hands-on testing performed by any individuals qualified under Section IV, qualification code TPH 7; and
d. Is responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance and quality control are maintained.
2. The Director may delegate to the Lab Supervisor the responsibility for:
a. Assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications;
b. Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning;
c. Providing orientation to all lab personnel;
d. Annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all lab personnel; and
e. Preparing for and leading all state onsite inspections of the laboratory.
Requirements:
Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist, ASCP certified or equivalent
Knowledge of CLIA regulations and quality assurance preferred.
Salary is negotiable based on education and experience
