Job Title: Senior Accountant

Work Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan.

This role is based at our corporate headquarters with some flexibility to work remotely when needed.

Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the month-end close process, accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, income statement analytics, and bank reconciliations. This position will assist with audits, financial reporting, taxes, and analytics. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Head of Finance.

The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and still meet strict deadlines. The candidate must be very organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, reliable, and hard-working. Responsibilities:

• Maintain various accounting activities, procedures, journal entries, and account reconciliations in support of the monthly financial close

• Ownership of the accounts payable process, corresponding journal entries, cash reconciliations, and detailed tracking

• Maintain and process monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and the recording of adjusting journal entries

• Review the general ledger to ensure that activity is properly recorded and reflected in the financial statements

• Prepare recurring bank covenant reporting requirements as needed

• Assist with various audits including year-end, banking, and inventory

• Register for various tax and business licenses for multiple states as needed

• Work on various ad-hoc projects

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with 2-4 years of related experience required

• Strong accounting skills with a firm understanding of US GAAP and IFRS

• Experience working in a D2C retail industry or related field preferred

• Inventory accounting experience preferred

• Advanced system knowledge including Excel and ERP (preferably Sage or similar)

• Working AP systems knowledge (preferably bill.com or similar)

• Excellent communication skills and experience partnering across other departments

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

• Ability to multitask and maintain quality deliverables within tight time frames

• Willingness to adapt and expand responsibilities as the organization grow
