Position Purpose:

• This position provides leadership to both the Logistics department and company Distribution Centers. Additionally, this position oversees SupplyCore’s distribution center operations, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for process and structural improvement. This position also works closely with the business development team to develop warehousing, distribution and carrier solutions that result in winning proposals.

• Guides teams in establishing cost effective warehousing, logistics, and transportation strategies, evaluating and improving inventory, shipping and packaging functions.
• Monitors and analyzes warehouse and logistics performance metrics. Identifies trends, develops & proposes action plans to improve operational and financial performance.
• Develops and implements strategy for pursuing new business opportunities both within and outside of current lines of business. Assists business development in identifying warehouse and logistics-focused opportunities.
• Partners with Business Development on proposal strategy planning and writing. Provides input on company capabilities in relation to proposal needs; brainstorms new and alternative ways to address new contractual requirements.
• Provides leadership and direction to the logistics and transportation teams, ensuring contractual promised delivery dates are met, suppliers are held accountable to requirements, and that departmental processes & procedures are maintained.
• Serves as primary point of contact with carriers to maintain relationships and drive accountability for contractual metrics.
• Keeps appraised of modern industry trends related to shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
• Provides leadership and direction to distribution center teams, educating them on contractual requirements, identifying areas for improvement and assisting with implementation of process improvement activities. Conducts quarterly visits to distribution centers.
• Ensures adherence to all legal, contractual and ISO requirements pertaining to transportation & distribution requirements.
• Manages assigned budget(s). Utilizes planning tools to monitor needs and expenses. Oversees all equipment needs. Approves or disputes appropriateness of charges when necessary.
• Performs other duties as required.

Travel Requirements

• Travel requirements for this position are approximately 25 – 50% of the time to visit distribution centers.

• Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, mentoring, and ensuring consistent application of employee guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Conducts team and one-on-one meetings, and fosters personal growth opportunities.
• Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising work; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements: any combination of equivalent education and work experience will be considered

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, related business field or equivalent experience.

Minimum Work Experience:

• Five (5) years of related logistics, transportation or distribution related work experience
• Five (5) years of distribution center related work experience+

Skill Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to switch between tactical and strategic work as needed.
• Deployable and open to regular travel as required
• Proven ability to negotiate and maintain accountability with carriers and suppliers. Solution driven
• Ability to lead staff, assign projects and tasks for maximum productivity and provide mentorship to developing staff
• Proven ability to independently prioritize and meet deadlines
• PC proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and supporting software
• Knowledge of E1 systems a plus

• This position requires the majority of the time to be spent in front of a computer screen. Must be able to accurately perceive and identify sensitive employee information.
• This individual in this position will be required to regularly communicate with internal and external customers to answer/ask inquiries, negotiate with carriers, and perform other job related tasks. Must be able to exchange information clearly and accurately in all situations.
• This position will fluctuate between working in a stationary position at workstation to being mobile in an automated warehouse environment, assisting with picking and packing duties, loading and unloading material, as needed.
• This position requires the majority of the time to be spent in front of a computer screen. Must be able to accurately perceive and identify sensitive employee information.

• Exposure to an open floor, indoor office environment; expect regular staff interaction and interruption throughout the workday.
• Exposure to warehouse environments, expect fluctuation of high and low temperatures depending on climate. Exposure to loud noises, forklifts and storage trucks.
