ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking a Pastry Chef who will be responsible for the decoration and presentation of pastry dishes for our various restaurants. In addition, they will be responsible for maintaining the kitchen’s inventory and developing new and unique recipes that will be featured on our menus. The Pastry Chef will manage their own section of the kitchen and partner with other chefs to maintain the functionality of the Back of House service.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Prepare all pastry and baked good items needed for restaurants and catered events
• Work with the Culinary Director to develop new recipes
• Stay on top of current trends, along with a strong foundation in classic pastry and fundamentals
• Assist with restaurant openings and new venue trainings
• Maintain a log of sampled recipes, R&D, and costs
• Ensure the pastry section of the kitchen adheres to the health and safety regulations
• Lead kitchen staff in the absence of the chef including training new staff members
• Assist head chef with menu creation

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school or GED equivalent required, formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts is preferred
• Minimum 2-5 years cooking experience in a fine dining environment and experience in a culinary leadership role preferred
• Proven record of developing systems to ensure timely production and meeting deadlines
• Must have experience in making and producing bread
• Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room staff, and guests
• Safe Food Handling Certification
• Creativity to design new and unique menu items to attract customers
• Knowledge of how baking ingredients work together and how they can be used in creative ways
• Ability to bend, stand and stoop for long periods of time, and working long hours in hot conditions
• Ability to travel when needed
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Must have a passion for the industry and a desire to create memorable guest experience

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
