The Assistant Director of Curriculum Development reports to the Director of Learning and Leadership Development and sits on the Assistant Vice President for Student Development & Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life’s leadership team. This individual will manage the AVIATE program, which includes the development, implementation and assessment of the department’s developmentally sequenced learning curriculum for 6,500 undergraduate students in residence, direct contact and partnership with campus stakeholders in the development of engagement opportunities that align with the department’s learning goals and collaboration with the departmental leadership and the College of Arts and Sciences in the development and maintenance of special interest communities for first year, second year and upper division students. The Assistant Director of Curriculum Development will coordinate the design of area educational plans, lesson plans and train staff to implement engagement strategies. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Curriculum Development will design and implement the curriculum for EDC 402, the class that all newly hired Resident Assistants and Neighborhood Fellows take in their first year of employment, and design and facilitate the training for the course facilitators. In concert with the University Mission Statement, the Assistant Director of Curriculum Development will maintain a developmental curriculum for students that values, promotes and fosters the development of leadership, civility and faith in the Catholic and Marianist tradition.
Bachelor’s Degree K-12 Education or related field plus 5 years of professional experience experience in an educational classroom or setting.
Experience designing and writing curriculum.
Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice.
Experience planning, organizing and implementing staff development and training programs.
Experience designing and assessing student learning outcomes.
Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Experience analyzing, synthesizing, and summarizing data.
Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities.
Experience designing marketing and publication materials.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Ability to work weekends and evenings.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
Master’s degree in K-12 Education or related field.
Familiarity with and value for Catholic Higher Education.
Demonstrated experience presenting information both in writing and through presentations to a variety of constituents.
Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and practices in higher education.
Demonstrated experience handling multiple projects, setting priorities and meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance.
Demonstrated experience responding to and managing emergency situations as part of an on call crisis/duty rotation.
Evidence of strong organizational skills.
Evidence of strong problem solving skills.
Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
Experience working with Google Suites and/or a student database system.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
